Hephaestus terms of service

The rules for using Hephaestus, and what you and tlsc can expect from each other.

Last updated 5 October 2026

The service

Hephaestus is software that tlsc builds, hosts, and runs for you. These terms apply to everyone who signs in to Hephaestus: the business that subscribes (“the customer”) and the people it invites.

The monthly fee covers hosting, updates, and support. Support questions get a reply within one business day. The fee and anything specific to your business are agreed in writing before you start. If that agreement and these terms disagree, the agreement wins.

Accounts and access

People sign in to Hephaestus with a Google account, and only people the customer has invited can get in. Each account belongs to one person. Do not share it.

The customer decides who to invite and what role each person gets, and is responsible for what invited people do in Hephaestus. Remove someone and they can no longer sign in.

Your content

The customer owns everything put into Hephaestus. tlsc uses that content only to host, run, and support the service. It is not sold or shared. Our privacy policy explains how personal data is handled.

Acceptable use

When using Hephaestus, do not:

  • put unlawful content in it, or content you have no right to use
  • try to get into accounts, companies, or data you were not invited to
  • probe, overload, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure
  • resell or give access to anyone outside the customer’s business

tlsc may suspend an account that does any of these, and will tell the customer why.

Changes to the service

New features and fixes reach Hephaestus as they are shipped. If a change removes something the customer relies on, tlsc will say so before it happens.

Availability and data

tlsc watches Hephaestus and works to keep it running, but cannot promise it will never be down. Keep your own copies of files that matter to you. tlsc does not guarantee that deleted data can be recovered.

Ending the service

Either side can end the subscription as set out in the written agreement. When it ends, the hosting and your data go with you: tlsc either transfers the hosting to you or hands over a full export, and then deletes its own copies.

Liability

Hephaestus is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, tlsc is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit or lost data.

tlsc’s total liability for any claim is limited to the fees the customer paid for Hephaestus in the three months before the claim.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date, and customers are told about significant changes before they take effect.
